Hi.

I'm Jo! Let's talk about food and travel around Ottawa, Canada

Chocolate Shawarma and Gelato? Only at Boccato!

Chocolate Shawarma and Gelato? Only at Boccato!

Yes that title sounds bizzare doesn't it? Yet tucked away in a corner of Landsdowne park, right by the Cineplex VIP is a quaint little cafe called Boccato. Known for their homemade gelato, fresh crepes and waffles, this place has lots to offer for your next quick cool off or Sunday brunch get together. What intrigued me about Boccato was that their menu had options that offered gelato WITH their crepes and waffles! This gives customers the best of both worlds if you having trouble deciding what to choose. I had the strawberry chocolate waffle while my co-tasters had the chocolate shawarma crepes with gelato.

My co-tasters were super excited after they learned that you can choose the kind of gelato you'd like on your crepe! It really lets the flavours play with the chocolate shawarma (which tastes/looks like shaved chocolate). My own waffle came with whipped cream, fresh sliced strawberries and chocolate drizzle on the side (it tasted deliciously like brownie batter, and I was very close to licking my plate clean!).

With a rustic, country atmosphere and a lovely patio open for the spring/summer season, I'd really recommend this place whether it's to sample something sweet after a movie or for a sit down meal in the nice weather.

Type: Cafe/Brunch Style

Cost: $$ (my own meal came to about $16.95 including tax before tip without a beverage)

Location: 1525 Princess Patricia Way (in Landsdowne)

Until next meal time!

J.
